Bellyra is the heir to the King of Cerrmor, Glyn II. Her brother Caturyc fell ill and died and her only other brother was born blind and disappeared a year after his birth. Her younger sister, Gwerna, was sent to live with an aunt to keep her safe in case she was needed. Bellyra marries Maryn in order to become queen of all Deverry. She gives birth to three sons, Casyl, Maryn (called Marro), and Gwardon. She suffers from severe post-partum depression following each birth. Bellyra is close to her ladies, Elyssa and Degwa, and is fond of Lillorigga most of the time. She is also friendly with Nevyn and Otho the smith. Although Bellyra is irreparably in love with her husband, she begins to have romantic feelings for Maddyn as well.
